PRF Rejuvenation Q&A
What is a PRF?
PRF stands for Platelet-Rich Fibrin. It’s a natural treatment that uses your own blood to enhance healing and rejuvenation. PRF is a second-generation version of Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) and is considered more advanced because it contains a fibrin matrix that slowly releases growth factors, promoting collagen production and tissue repair.
What’s the difference between PRF and PRP?
PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) and PRF (Platelet-Rich Fibrin) are both platelet-rich therapies, but they differ in how they’re processed and what they contain. PRP involves separating platelets from the rest of the blood using a centrifuge, while PRF retains the natural fibrin matrix within the platelet concentrate. This difference in processing and composition can lead to variations in growth factor release and healing characteristics.
How many sessions are recommended?
At Park Slope Aesthetic Laser Center we strive to give our clients the best results. A series of 4-6 sessions is generally recommended to achieve optimal results, especially for concerns like acne or signs of aging. Initial improvements may be noticeable after the first session but more significant and lasting changes often become more apparent after multiple treatments. The number of sessions needed can vary based on individual skin type, age, lifestyle, and the specific concerns being addressed.
